Quick Answer

CA CAF Managerial and Financial Analysis (MFA) is ICAP's CAF-level paper on business analysis, risk and financial decision-making. Under ICAP's Education Scheme 2025, it continues as CAF-7 Business Insights and Analysis (BIA), and a pass in legacy CAF-6 MFA is credited against it. The fastest route to a first-attempt pass is ICAP's syllabus, past papers and a structured CA CAF MFA preparation course.

Introduction

If you are a CA student in Pakistan, the CAF Managerial and Financial Analysis paper is where accounting stops being about recording the past and starts being about deciding the future. MFA asks you to read a business the way a CFO or consultant does: scan its environment, weigh its risks, price its capital and decide whether an investment is worth making.

That is also why so many students search for "CAF MFA preparation strategy" and "CAF MFA important topics" once they reach this stage. The paper is lengthy, it mixes theory with calculations, and in 2026 it changed shape. ICAP's new Education Scheme 2025 renamed and restructured the paper, so a lot of the notes and guides still circulating describe a syllabus that no longer exists.

At ICT Business School, we teach CA students across the twin cities and beyond, and this guide reflects what we see in the classroom: where students lose marks, which topics carry the paper, and how to plan a first-attempt pass. If you are new to the CA route, start with our complete guide to Chartered Accountancy in Pakistan, and for a view of the full stage, read our breakdown of CAF Group B difficulty level and career path.

This article covers everything in one place: the legacy-to-new transition, grid-wise syllabus, paper pattern, eligibility, exemptions, worked examples, a 12-week study plan, study material, costs, career value and an honest look at difficulty.

Key Takeaways

  • MFA has a new name. ICAP maps CAF-6 Managerial and Financial Analysis under Scheme 2021 to CAF-7 Business Insights and Analysis under Scheme 2025.
  • The new scheme is live. ICAP's Education and Training Scheme 2025 took effect on January 16, 2026.
  • Four grids, 100 marks. Managerial Analysis carries 30–40%, Risk Management 20–30%, Financial Analysis 25–30% and Introduction to Sustainability 10–15%.
  • Costing moved out. CVP, variances and relevant costing are now tested in CAF-5 Management Accounting; BIA builds on them.
  • Legacy MFA past papers still help, especially for WACC, investment appraisal, working capital, budgeting, risk and business analysis.
  • Balanced paper. Expect both theory (PESTEL, Porter's Five Forces, ethics models) and numericals (CAPM, WACC, NPV, IRR, hedging).

What Is CA CAF Managerial and Financial Analysis (MFA)?

CAF Managerial and Financial Analysis (MFA) is a Certificate in Accounting and Finance (CAF) paper of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). It tests whether you can analyse a business's environment, strategy, risk, funding and investment decisions. Since 2026, ICAP examines this content as CAF-7 Business Insights and Analysis (BIA).

ICAP defines the paper's competency as applying business and financial analysis to business problems. In plain terms, MFA sits at the meeting point of three disciplines:

  • Strategic management (external and internal analysis, business models, ethics)
  • Corporate finance (sources of finance, cost of capital, investment appraisal, working capital)
  • Risk management (enterprise risk, financial risk, hedging)

A useful analogy: CAF-1 and CAF-6 teach you to write the company's report card. MFA teaches you to coach the company for next year's exam.

Where Does MFA Sit in the CA Pakistan Journey?

The CA qualification under Scheme 2025 has four broad stages. MFA/BIA sits in the middle, at CAF.

StageWhat It CoversRelated ICT Resources
PRC (Pre-Requisite Competencies)Accounting, quantitative analysis, business and economics basicsCA PRC level explained
CAF (8 papers)Core technical knowledge incl. BIA (formerly MFA)ICAP CAF Group A subjects and exam structure
CFAP (6 papers) + Strategic Case StudyAdvanced professional applicationCFAP: final stage of Chartered Accountancy
TrainingArticleship with an approved training organizationCA articleship in Pakistan

ICAP's standard pathway for a full-time student is 3 PRC papers, 8 CAF papers and hands-on courses, followed by training, 6 CFAP papers, 2 integrated modules and the Strategic Case Study paper.

MFA to BIA: What Changed Under ICAP Education Scheme 2025?

Short answer: MFA was renamed and restructured. CAF-6 Managerial and Financial Analysis (Scheme 2021) is now CAF-7 Business Insights and Analysis (Scheme 2025). If you passed CAF-6 MFA, ICAP gives you credit for CAF-7 BIA. The new paper adds Risk Management as a full grid and introduces sustainability.

This is the single most important update for anyone searching "CA CAF MFA syllabus" in 2026. Here is ICAP's official paper-wise mapping for the CAF stage:

Is CAF MFA Still Examined?

Yes, in substance. The content is examined under the name CAF-7 Business Insights and Analysis. ICAP publishes suggested answers and marking plans for CAF-7 BIA under the Scheme 2025 section of its student portal. Students who search for "CAF MFA past papers" or "CAF MFA exam questions" should now look under both names.

What If I Already Passed CAF-6 MFA?

You are covered. Your MFA pass is credited against CAF-7 BIA, so you do not re-sit the paper. Also note that ICAP places no time limit on the CAF stage for passing papers. icap

What Moved Out of MFA?

Many students expect MFA to test standard costing, variance analysis, marginal vs absorption costing and CVP. Under Scheme 2025, those techniques sit in CAF-5 Management Accounting. CAF-5's examinable references include relevant cost, breakeven analysis, profit/volume charts, EOQ, material mix and yield variances, and sales variances with operating statements. icap

Why this matters: BIA assumes you already understand cost behaviour, contribution margin, fixed and variable costs, and semi-variable costs. When a BIA budgeting question gives you a cost structure, it expects you to handle it fluently. Treat CAF-5 as your toolkit and BIA as the place you apply it at a strategic level.

CAF MFA Syllabus 2026: Grid-Wise Breakdown

The CAF MFA (BIA) syllabus has four grids: Managerial Analysis (30–40%), Risk Management (20–30%), Financial Analysis (25–30%) and Introduction to Sustainability (10–15%). ICAP recommends 120–145 teaching hours. Managerial and Risk grids together can carry up to 70 marks.

Source: ICAP CAF Syllabus (Education Scheme 2025), CAF-7 grid table.

Grid A: Managerial Analysis (30–40%)

This is the business-strategy engine of the paper. It covers external analysis of political, legal, social, technological, economic and competitive environments; internal analysis including the business model and value chain; and ethical decision-making models.

What that looks like in an exam:

  • PESTEL analysis of a Pakistani business facing, for example, exchange-rate pressure, tax changes or energy costs
  • Porter's Five Forces to assess industry attractiveness
  • SWOT analysis that links internal strengths to external opportunities
  • Product Life Cycle and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Matrix for portfolio decisions
  • Value chain and business model analysis
  • Ethical decision-making using named models

Expert tip: examiners reward application, not recitation. A generic PESTEL list scores little. A PESTEL that explains how a specific factor hits the company's margins, demand or costs scores well.

Grid B: Risk Management (20–30%)

This grid carries the most teaching hours, and it is where financial management lives. It includes sources of finance (debt, equity and Islamic finance), computing cost of equity, cost of debt and WACC, analysing a capital asset's sensitivity to systematic risk, and applying risk management techniques including financial risk management.

Core topics:

  • Sources of finance, including Islamic finance
  • Cost of equity (dividend growth model and CAPM)
  • Cost of debt (pre-tax and after-tax)
  • Weighted average cost of capital (WACC)
  • Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) and beta
  • ISO 31000 risk management framework
  • Hedging interest rate, foreign exchange, commodity and security risk

Grid C: Financial Analysis (25–30%)

This grid combines budgeting, working capital and investment appraisal. It requires preparing data to support management decisions including budgets, analysing cash flow and working capital requirements including debtors and creditors management, and computing NPV, IRR and payback for projects.

Core topics:

  • Budgeting and budgetary control, including cash budgets and projections
  • Working capital management: inventory, receivables, payables, cash conversion cycle
  • Investment appraisal: net present value (NPV), internal rate of return (IRR), payback period
  • Capital rationing and asset replacement decisions
  • Financial ratios for liquidity, profitability and efficiency analysis

Grid D: Introduction to Sustainability (10–15%)

This is the newest area. It covers key sustainability concepts and stakeholders, the three pillars of sustainability and their interconnection, and the role of ESG factors in measuring corporate sustainability. All learning outcomes here are at testing level T1, so expect short, concept-based questions rather than long cases.

Specific Examinable Knowledge (The "Named Frameworks" List)

ICAP lists the specific models you must know by name. These are SWOT, Porter's Five Forces, the Product Life Cycle, the BCG Matrix, Tucker's 5-question model, the American Accounting Association 7-step model, ISO 31000, CAPM, capital rationing, the asset replacement cycle, interest rate hedging, foreign exchange hedging, and commodity and security forwards and futures.

Important note: For interest rate and foreign exchange hedging, hedge efficiency is excluded from the syllabus. Do not over-study what the syllabus excludes.

CAF MFA Paper Pattern and Exam Format

The CAF MFA (BIA) exam is a 100-mark written paper with a 50% pass mark. It mixes objective questions, short theory questions and longer numerical or case-based questions. ICAP holds CAF exams twice a year, in the Spring and Autumn sessions.

How ICAP's Testing Levels Shape the Paper

Every learning outcome carries a testing level that caps the marks it can attract. At T1, a topic can carry at most 8 marks, with T1 topics capped at 35 marks in aggregate per attempt; T2 topics can carry up to 20 marks; and T3 topics up to 25 marks. Any new syllabus topic is tested at level 1 in its first attempt, regardless of its listed testing level.

What this means for your preparation:

Testing LevelMax Marks per TopicCAF-7 ExamplesHow to Study
T18Sources of finance, all sustainability outcomesShort notes, definitions, quick recall
T220WACC, CAPM, NPV/IRR, budgeting, working capital, PESTEL, Five Forces, ethics modelsFull practice with past-paper questions

Nearly all of Grids A, B and C sit at T2. That is where the marks are.

Will I Lose Marks for Not Using ICAP's Exact Wording?

No, as long as your meaning is correct. ICAP states there is no prescribed-text concept and correct phrasing is marked on merit, although questions on laws, standards or acknowledged theories require the proper terminology. So write "threat of new entrants", not "new competitors coming", when applying Porter's model.

Who Can Sit the CAF MFA (BIA) Exam? Eligibility and Exemptions

To sit CAF MFA (BIA), you must be a registered ICAP CAF student who is eligible for Group B papers. Under Scheme 2025, students may appear in CAF Group B papers after passing two CAF Group A papers. Some qualifications and degrees can earn an exemption from BIA. Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan

Step-by-Step: Getting to the MFA/BIA Exam

  1. Check CA eligibility. See our guide on CA eligibility in Pakistan.
  2. Register with ICAP. Our ICAP registration process guide walks you through it.
  3. Clear or get exempted from PRC, depending on your base qualification.
  4. Pass two CAF Group A papers, such as CAF-1 Financial Accounting and Reporting and CAF-2 Taxation Principles and Compliance.
  5. Submit the exam admission form within ICAP's published deadlines. Student registration is open all year, but it is not admission to exams; the exam form is submitted separately per ICAP's schedule.
  6. Download your admit card. ICAP uploads admit cards to the student login area one week before exams.

Who Gets an Exemption From CAF MFA (BIA)?

QualificationBIA Exemption?
All ICMAP papers passedYes, exemption from all PRC and CAF papers
All CIMA (UK) papers passedYes, CAF-7 BIA is among the exempted CAF papers
All ACCA papers passedNo; ACCA affiliates are exempted from CAF-1, CAF-5, CAF-6 and CAF-8
Four-year relevant degree from an RDAI, or an NBEAC W-category instituteYes, subject to at least 70% syllabus match and at least 60% marks in the relevant subject
Four-year HEC-recognized degree (other)These students take the Graduate Conversion Course in lieu of CAF

A detail most guides miss: the Graduate Conversion Course does not include a BIA paper. GCC comprises Business Concept and Environment, Taxation Principles and Compliance, Management Accounting, Corporate Reporting, and Audit and Assurance Essentials. So graduates on the GCC route will not sit BIA at all, though they will meet its concepts again at CFAP.

Not sure which route applies to you? Talk to our admissions team before you register.

How Difficult Is CAF MFA?

CAF MFA is widely considered one of the more demanding CAF papers because it is lengthy and balances theory with numericals. It is very passable with a structured plan. Students who fail usually lose marks through poor time management and generic theory answers, not through lack of intelligence.

Why students find MFA hard:

  • Two mindsets in one paper. You switch between strategic reasoning (PESTEL, ethics) and precise calculation (WACC, IRR) within the same three hours.
  • Long scenarios. Reading and extracting the right data takes time.
  • Theory that must be applied. Listing Porter's five forces earns little; applying them to the case earns the marks.
  • Formula overload. CAPM, dividend growth model, after-tax cost of debt, annuity factors, IRR interpolation, hedging calculations.

Common Mistakes in CAF MFA

  1. Using pre-tax cost of debt in WACC. Always adjust for tax where interest is tax-deductible.
  2. Using book values for WACC weights when market values are given.
  3. Including sunk costs or financing costs in NPV cash flows. Financing is already reflected in the discount rate.
  4. Writing textbook theory without case facts. Every point should mention the company.
  5. Skipping the recommendation. If a question asks "should the company invest?", end with a clear yes or no and a reason.
  6. Over-investing time in T1 topics. Sustainability and sources of finance carry capped marks.
  7. Ignoring examiner comments. ICAP's examiner comments tell you exactly where the last cohort lost marks.

Worked Examples: Core CAF MFA Numerical Questions

The examples below are illustrative, built to show method and presentation. They are not taken from any ICAP paper.

Example 1: Cost of Equity Using CAPM

Data: Risk-free rate 12%, expected market return 17%, equity beta 1.2.

Formula: Ke = Rf + β (Rm − Rf)

Working: Ke = 12% + 1.2 × (17% − 12%) = 12% + 6% = 18%

Interpretation: Shareholders expect 18% because the company's shares are 20% more volatile than the market.

Example 2: Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC)

Data: Market value of equity Rs. 600,000,000 at Ke of 18% (from Example 1). Market value of debt Rs. 400,000,000 at a pre-tax cost of 14%. Tax rate 29%.

SourceMarket Value (Rs.)WeightCostWeighted Cost
Equity600,000,00060%18.00%10.80%
Debt (after tax: 14% × (1 − 0.29))400,000,00040%9.94%3.98%
Total1,000,000,000100%14.78%

Interpretation: New projects of similar risk must earn more than about 14.78% to add value.

Example 3: NPV, IRR and Payback

Data: Initial investment Rs. 50,000,000. Annual net cash inflow Rs. 18,000,000 for 4 years. Discount rate 15%.

MeasureWorkingResult
PV of inflows at 15%18,000,000 × 2.855 (4-year annuity factor)Rs. 51,390,000
NPV at 15%51,390,000 − 50,000,000Rs. 1,390,000 (positive)
NPV at 16%18,000,000 × 2.798 − 50,000,000Rs. 364,000
NPV at 17%18,000,000 × 2.743 − 50,000,000Rs. (626,000)
IRR (interpolation)16% + [364,000 ÷ (364,000 + 626,000)] × 1%≈ 16.37%
Payback period50,000,000 ÷ 18,000,000≈ 2.78 years

Recommendation: Accept. NPV is positive and IRR exceeds the 15% cost of capital. A good answer would also flag risks, such as sensitivity of inflows to demand or exchange rates.

Example 4: Cash Conversion Cycle

Data: Inventory days 60, receivables collection period 45 days, payables payment period 30 days.

Working: Cash conversion cycle = 60 + 45 − 30 = 75 days

Interpretation: The business funds 75 days of operations before cash returns. Options to shorten it include tighter credit terms, early-settlement discounts, better inventory control or negotiating longer supplier terms.

Example 5: Forward Contract Hedge

Data (illustrative): A Karachi importer owes USD 100,000 in three months. The bank offers a three-month forward rate of Rs. 285 per USD.

Working: Locked-in payment = 100,000 × 285 = Rs. 28,500,000

Interpretation: The forward removes uncertainty. The trade-off is that the importer cannot benefit if the rupee strengthens. That "certainty vs upside" discussion is exactly what examiners want in your conclusion.

Example 6: How to Structure a Theory Answer

Question type: "Analyse the competitive environment of a Pakistani cement manufacturer using Porter's Five Forces."

A marks-friendly structure:

  1. Name the force (for example, "Bargaining power of buyers").
  2. Assess the level (high, moderate, low).
  3. Justify with case facts (for example, large construction contractors buy in bulk and can switch suppliers).
  4. State the impact on the company (pressure on prices and margins).
  5. Suggest a response where the question asks for it.

How to Prepare for CAF MFA: A 12-Week Study Plan

The best CAF MFA preparation strategy is grid-by-grid learning, followed by timed past-paper practice and examiner-comment review. Plan at least 120–145 study hours to match ICAP's recommended teaching time, then add revision. A 12-week plan works well for most students taking two or three CAF papers together.

CAF MFA Exam Techniques That Earn Marks

  • Use the reading time to plan. Mark data you will need for calculations.
  • Allocate time by marks. Roughly 1.8 minutes per mark in a 3-hour, 100-mark paper.
  • Show every working. Method marks save you when the final number is wrong.
  • State assumptions where the question is silent.
  • Always conclude. Numbers without a recommendation leave marks on the table.
  • Answer the verb. "Discuss" needs both sides; "Calculate" needs figures; "Recommend" needs a decision.

Want a guided version of this plan with mock exams and feedback? Explore the CA CAF MFA course or Book a Seat in the next batch.

CAF MFA Study Material and Past Papers

ICAP's own study text, past papers, examiner comments, suggested answers and marking plans are the most reliable CAF MFA study material. Publisher handbooks and lecture notes help, but always check they are written for Education Scheme 2025, not the legacy MFA syllabus.

Official ICAP Resources

  • ICAP study text: ICAP provides study material online in the students' secured area, with hardbound copies available from designated third-party publishers.
  • Syllabus document: Check the latest CAF syllabus on the ICAP website before every attempt.
  • Past papers, suggested answers and marking plans: Available on ICAP's student portal under both the legacy CAF-6 MFA and the new CAF-7 BIA headings.
  • Examiner comments: ICAP publishes examiner comments for CAF papers. Read them for every attempt you practise.

How to Use Legacy MFA Past Papers Under the New Syllabus

Legacy CAF MFA past papers are still valuable, but not every question maps to BIA.

Revision Notes and Practice Questions

  • Build chapter-wise notes that fit on one or two pages per topic.
  • Keep an error log of every mistake from practice questions.
  • Mix conceptual questions (theory) and numerical questions in every study session.
  • Take at least two full mock exams under timed conditions.

CAF MFA Important Topics

The most important CAF MFA topics are WACC and CAPM, NPV and IRR, budgeting and working capital, and external and internal business analysis. These are T2 topics, which means each can carry up to 20 marks in an attempt.

How Much Does CAF MFA Cost?

The cost of CAF MFA has two parts: ICAP's examination fee and your tuition fee. ICAP publishes its current fee schedule on its website, and tuition varies by institute and class format. Always check ICAP's fee page close to the exam form deadline because fees are revised periodically.

  • ICAP exam and registration fees: The latest ICAP fees are published on its website, and fees paid through registered accountancy tutors should be confirmed directly with them.
  • Tuition: Contact ICT Business School admissions for current MFA/BIA class fees and batch schedules.
  • Financial support: ICAP offers a High Achievers Scholarship, a Students Financial Support program and an Ihsan Trust interest-free loan facility.

For a full breakdown of the entire CA route, see our CA fee structure in Pakistan 2026 and CA fees in Pakistan guides.

Career Value of CAF MFA: Why It Matters After CAF

CAF MFA builds the analytical skills employers expect from finance trainees: budgeting, investment appraisal, risk assessment and business analysis. It also prepares you directly for CFAP-4 Strategic Business Finance. Completing CAF opens articleship and, with the right credits, a route to a bachelor's degree.

What Completing CAF Unlocks

  • Articleship with a stipend. ICAP's minimum stipend for a CAF-passed trainee starting training from July 1, 2025 is Rs. 25,000 per month. icap
  • Degree pathway. Students with a verified CAF may be admitted to a BS Accounting and Finance program and can receive exemptions of up to 60 credit hours, subject to university rules.
  • HEC recognition of CA. HEC recognizes Chartered Accountancy as equivalent to an M.Com degree involving 16 years of schooling.
  • CFAP readiness. MFA/BIA is the foundation for CFAP-4 Strategic Business Finance, and its sustainability grid leads into CFAP-3 Sustainability Reporting and Assurance.

Roles Where MFA Skills Are Used Daily

  • Financial analyst and FP&A (financial planning and analysis)
  • Budgeting and management reporting
  • Treasury and risk management
  • Investment appraisal and corporate finance
  • Business consulting and advisory

Salaries depend on firm, city, experience and final qualification status. For current market ranges, read our guides on CA salary in Pakistan, CA scope in Pakistan and top CA jobs in Pakistan.

CAF MFA vs Similar ACCA and CMA Papers

CAF MFA (BIA) overlaps most with ACCA Financial Management (FM) and CMA USA Part 2. All three cover cost of capital, investment appraisal and risk. MFA is distinctive because it also tests strategic business analysis and ethics models in the same

CMA USA is shorter and focused on management accounting. The "best" choice depends on your career goals, budget and where you want to work.

Should You Take CAF MFA With Other CAF Papers?

Yes, most students pair MFA/BIA with one to three other CAF papers. ICAP allows up to four CAF papers per sitting. Pair BIA with papers that share skills, and avoid stacking too many heavy numerical papers together.

Practical pairing ideas:

  • BIA + CAF-5 Management Accounting: strong synergy, since BIA assumes cost behaviour and budgeting fluency.
  • BIA + CAF-6 Corporate Reporting (legacy FAR-II): ratio analysis links both.
  • BIA + CAF-8 Audit and Assurance: a good balance of numerical and theory papers.

A realistic rule: if you work or train, take two papers. If you study full time with coaching, three is manageable. Four papers require a very disciplined schedule.

Latest Updates and Future Trends

The key 2026 update is ICAP's move to Education Scheme 2025, which renamed MFA as CAF-7 Business Insights and Analysis and added sustainability. The broader trend is toward data, technology and ESG across the CA qualification.

  • Scheme 2025 in force since January 2026, with legacy-to-new credits.
  • Sustainability arrives at CAF level through BIA Grid D and CAF-6 Corporate Reporting.
  • Technology focus: ICAP's integrated modules now include Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics, and students are advised to complete it before CFAP-6 or CFAP-4.
  • CFAP frequency: CFAP exams move to a quarterly schedule from Summer 2026.
  • Remote exams: ICAP offers online remote-proctored examinations, including for students abroad.

What this means for you: the analytical, ESG and data skills in BIA are not isolated exam topics. They are becoming core expectations across the profession. Also see our view on the future scope of accounting jobs in Pakistan.

The CAF MFA (BIA) syllabus has four grids: Managerial Analysis (30–40%), Risk Management (20–30%), Financial Analysis (25–30%) and Introduction to Sustainability (10–15%). ICAP recommends 120–145 teaching hours.

4. What is the passing mark for CAF MFA?
The CAF MFA (BIA) paper carries 100 marks, and the pass mark is 50%. Confirm current exam rules on ICAP's website before each attempt.

5. Is CAF MFA difficult?
CAF MFA is demanding because it is lengthy and mixes theory with numericals. Most failures come from poor time management and generic theory answers. A structured plan with timed past-paper practice makes it very passable.

6. Are CAF MFA past papers still useful under the new syllabus?
Yes. Legacy MFA past papers remain useful for WACC, CAPM, NPV, IRR, budgeting, working capital, risk and business analysis. Use ICAP's study text and model papers for the new sustainability grid.

7. Is costing still part of CAF MFA?
Standard costing, variance analysis and CVP are tested in CAF-5 Management Accounting under Scheme 2025. CAF-7 BIA assumes you understand these techniques and applies them in budgeting and decision analysis.

8. Can ACCA or CIMA students get an exemption from CAF MFA?
Students who passed all CIMA papers are exempt from CAF-7 BIA. Students who passed all ACCA papers are not exempt from BIA; their CAF exemptions cover CAF-1, CAF-5, CAF-6 and CAF-8.

9. How long should I study for CAF MFA?
Plan at least 120–145 study hours, matching ICAP's recommended teaching time, plus revision. A 12-week plan covering each grid, followed by two timed mock exams, works well for most students.

10. CAF MFA ki preparation kaise karein?
Start with the ICAP syllabus, learn one grid at a time, practise timed past papers and read examiner comments. Build a formula sheet and model answer templates for PESTEL, Five Forces and ethics models.

Conclusion

CA CAF Managerial and Financial Analysis is the paper that turns an accounting student into a business analyst. In 2026, it carries a new name, CAF-7 Business Insights and Analysis, a new Risk Management grid and a sustainability component, but its purpose is the same: can you read a business, weigh its risks and back your recommendation with numbers?

Key recommendation: Study grid by grid, prioritise the T2 topics (WACC, CAPM, NPV/IRR, budgeting, working capital, PESTEL and Five Forces), use both legacy MFA and new BIA past papers, and always finish your answers with a clear recommendation.
